  • Meat Mallet (Optional, 1) – To pound chicken breasts to even thickness.
  • Baking Sheet (Optional, 1) – For baking the chicken.

Ingredients

  • tbsp Honey – 30g
  • 2 tbsp Dijon Mustard – 30g
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar – 15ml
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced – 2g
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil – 15ml
  • Salt – To taste
  • Pepper – To taste

Optional: 1 tsp Paprika or Cayenne Pepper – For a spicier version

Optional: Fresh Herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) – For garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  • If needed, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness using a meat mallet. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.

Make the Honey Mustard Sauce:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic until well combined.

Cook the Chicken:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
If you prefer baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes.

Glaze the Chicken:

  • During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with the honey mustard sauce.
If you’re baking, brush the sauce onto the chicken when there are about 5 minutes left in the cooking time.

Rest and Serve:

  • Once the chicken is cooked through, let it rest for 3-5 minutes.
Serve with additional honey mustard sauce and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Customize the Sauce: If you like your sauce to be more tangy, increase the amount of Dijon mustard or add a bit more apple cider vinegar. For a sweeter version, add extra honey.
  • Make it Spicy: If you enjoy a bit of heat, add cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the sauce for an extra kick.
  • Bone-In Chicken: You can use bone-in chicken thighs or drumsticks instead of boneless breasts. Just adjust the cooking time to ensure the chicken is fully cooked (approximately 35-40 minutes if baking).
  • Grilling Option: You can also grill the chicken after brushing it with the sauce, adding a smoky flavor to complement the sweetness.
