Equipment

  • 1 (10-inch) Cast Iron Skillet (or any oven-safe skillet)
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Hand Mixer or Whisk
  • 1 Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup 115g Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup 100g Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup 50g Granulated Sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 1/4 cups 155g All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups 255g Chocolate Chips

Instructions

Preheat the oven and prepare the skillet

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet with butter or cooking spray.

Cream the butter and sugars

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2 minutes using a hand mixer or whisk.

Add the egg and vanilla

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined. The mixture should be smooth and glossy.

Combine the dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips

  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Transfer the dough to the skillet

  • Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared skillet. Optionally, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top for added texture.

Bake

  • Bake the cookie for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is soft.

Cool and serve

  • Let the cookie cool for 10 minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy!
