Equipment

  • Wok or Large Skillet: 1
  • Small Bowl: 1 (for mixing sauce)
  • Whisk: 1 (for stirring the sauce)
  • Knife and Cutting Board: 1 each
  • Measuring Spoons (1 set)

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breast: 1 lb boneless, skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Broccoli Florets: 3 cups fresh or frozen
  • Soy Sauce: ¼ cup
  • Sesame Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Garlic: 3 cloves minced
  • Ginger: 1 inch fresh, minced
  • Rice Vinegar: 1 tbsp
  • Honey or Brown Sugar: 1 tbsp
  • Cornstarch: 1 tbsp
  • Water or Chicken Broth: ½ cup
  • Optional: Bell Peppers: 1 sliced
  • Optional: Green Onions: 2 sliced for garnish
  • Optional: Red Pepper Flakes: to taste for spice

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Marinate with 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and cornstarch.
    Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the remaining soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), cornstarch, and water or chicken broth. Mix until smooth and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Chicken: Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil.
Stir-fry the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
    Remove and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Broccoli: In the same pan, add a bit more sesame oil if necessary.
Stir-fry the broccoli for 3-4 minutes, or until it reaches your desired tenderness.
You can cover the pan for 1-2 minutes for softer broccoli.
  • Combine and Cook with Sauce: Return the chicken to the pan. Pour the stir-fry sauce over the chicken and broccoli.
Toss everything together until evenly coated and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  • Serve: Serve your Chicken Broccoli Stir Fry hot over rice or noodles.
Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds, if desired.

  • Meal Prep: This dish makes for excellent meal prep. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use tamari or coconut aminos instead of regular soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
